The starting point for a unique engagement ring, or any diamond ring for that matter, is the careful selection of the diamond that will feature in the ring setting.
Kush Diamonds have taken pride in creating unique engagement rings in Melbourne for the last 35 years. Being direct importers of diamonds, we cut out the middle men and bring wholesale diamonds to you at a much cheaper price than you would find at other diamond retailers.
Before We Create Your Unique Engagement Ring
We have a database of diamonds that you can select from for your desired ring, but firstly you need to determine what the most important aspects of your diamond are.
This is done with the 4Cs…
You can get a quick overview of the 4Cs with this 3 minute video by the GIA, or follow the links below for more detail on each of the Four C’s..
Carat – diamond weight (this also relates to size) You can choose anywhere between 0.5 of a carat, right up to a 5 carat diamond. More about diamond carat..
Cut – this refers to the shape of the cut diamond as well as the quality of the cut itself. The shapes are displayed in our database to make your selection easy, and you can select multiple shapes. More about diamond cuts..
Colour - colour (or lack of colour) is measured from D to Z, with D having the least colour. Read more about diamond colour and how it influences diamond price and quality..
Clarity – flawless diamonds are the most expensive, but are very rare. More often a diamond will have minor imperfections which are known as blemishes and inclusions. More about diamond clarity and how it influences diamond quality and price..
Diamond Shape and Cut
When it comes to diamonds, most consumers tend to use the words “cut” and “shape” interchangeably. But at this point it should be noted that Diamond Shape refers to the outline of the stone (pear, oval, round, etc.) and Diamond cut refers to a stone’s facet arrangement. So a shape can be faceted in a variety of ways, or cutting styles.
You might know which shape of diamond you like, or may have a specific carat of diamond, or a price range in mind.
