Every diamond is unique.

Each reflects the story of its arduous journey from deep inside the earth to a cherished object of adornment. Yet all diamonds share certain features that allow us to compare and evaluate them. These features are called the 4Cs.

We are here to help you educate yourself about the varied factors which influence diamond price and quality, to help you select the perfect diamond for your loved one.

It is important to remember that every diamond is unique and will have its own distinct qualities. A diamond grading chart is split into 4 sections to measure the most important elements of each diamond. Jump to the 3 minute video below, or read about the ˜Four Cs of diamond quality below, but first lets better understand what diamond certification is..

Why Choose Certified Diamonds?

Kush Diamonds only stock GIA certified diamonds

GIA - Gemological Institute of America

GIA, the Gemological Institute of America is the worlds foremost authority on diamonds worldwide which exists to protect all purchasers of gemstones, by providing the education, laboratory services, research and instruments needed to accurately and objectively determine gemstone quality.

GIA graded and certified diamonds have ALL been independently assessed and we provide this assessment with every diamond, giving you peace of mind when you purchase from Kush Diamonds.

How Do You Determine Diamond Quality?

A diamond grading chart is a way to measure the 4Cs of a diamond, which together go to determine the value of a diamond. The 4Cs evaluate the quality of a diamond based on the following indicators, but your taste and style preference will also play a part in the diamond that you ultimately choose.

The 4Cs are

Cut - the cut refers to a diamonds shape, but also its overall proportions and polish. Each diamond could be cut in several ways and the quality of the cut depends on the diamond cutter. The cutter has a choice between cutting a bigger diamond, or a cut that makes the diamond slightly smaller but of superior quality.

A round cut diamond (also known as brilliant cut) is the most preferred cut, or shape, of diamond as it produces the best reflection of light, brilliance and a has high number of facets. More about diamond cut..

Carat -  The carat is the weight measurement of a diamond. A carat (seen as ct.) is measured in 100 points. Larger carat diamonds are harder to find which is where their increased value comes from.

Carat is sometimes confused as relating to the size of the diamond, the two are linked, but a diamond has a top surface area (known as the crown area), as well as depth. Thus a two carat diamond will not necessarily be twice the size; of a one carat diamond. More about carat measurement..

Colour - Diamonds come in varied colours with certain colours like pink and yellow being highly valued. Kush Diamonds specialise in white diamonds which are graded from being ‘colourless’ right through to ‘light colour’. This diamond grading goes from D to Z, with diamonds closer to D (colourless) being given a higher value. More about diamond colour grading..

Clarity -Diamond clarity is the measurement of blemishes or marks on a diamond. A diamond with more flaws or blemishes will have less brilliance which will reduce its value. More about diamond clarity..
